Hey guys!! This Halloween sponge toffee (honeycomb toffee) candy bark is literally the most amazing treat I’ve made in my life, and I’m so excited to share it with you all! At first I was nervous this wouldn’t work out, since I’d never seen anyone do this before, but it came out even better than I expected and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Seriously, you need to try it! Also, it is incredibly easy (but can be very dangerous so please use caution and have help with preparing this, I had someone help me as well).
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1/3 cup water
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp baking soda
Semi sweet chocolate
Candy melts (optional)
Assorted Halloween candy
Gummy worms (optional)
Add sugar, corn syrup, water, and vanilla to a very large saucepan/pot over medium-high heat and stir together. Leave undisturbed until a candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove from the heat immediately and stir in baking soda. Only stir for a few seconds until the baking soda is combined and then stop. The toffee will foam up right away. Pour mixture into a pan that has been lined with parchment paper and allow to cool undisturbed for 1 hour.
Melt chocolate (and candy melts). Pour over sponge toffee and spread to cover. Add on any desired chocolates and Halloween candy. Let sit until chocolate has set and cut into chunks.
All done! This is the most incredible treat and it is incredibly easy! Enjoy!
