Spiderweb Cupcakes

Frosting (this will frost about 8-10 cupcakes, double for a full batch of cupcakes)
  1. Prepare one box of Devil's food cake according to the instructions on the box. Add in 1 tsp of black food gel. Bake in cupcake liners for 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a bowl cream butter for 5-10 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add in powdered sugar until thick.
  4. Thin out slowly with small amounts of heavy cream or milk until desired texture is achieved. You want this to be thicker than you'll expect you want it, otherwise it will fall when piped.
  5. Add in vanilla (optional) and kosher salt.
  6. Mix to combine, then add in marshmallow cream and mix again.
  7. Then mix in food coloring if desired.
  8. Once the cupcakes have cooled completely take a piping tip and remove the middle portion of the cupcake so the frosting goes into the cupcake (optional), pipe on frosting using a piping bag (I used a 4B tip) or a sandwich bag.
  9. Add on white cotton candy, a toffee bon bon (spider's nest) and a plastic spider.
